Most people we talk to are completely unaware of the dangers of genetically modified food (GMO) or that we’ve actually been exposed to it for many years now. As it turns out it’s in about 80% of what lines the supermarket shelves. Corn, soybeans, sugar beets, and canola are just a few of the items that have been subjected to modification. With this modification comes the ability to spray them with powerful herbicides (principally RoundUp).
If you’re at all concerned about the ever increasing amount of GMO in our food supply – and you should be – please read this article from Fast Company that exposes the dark under belly of this problem - Food Supply Threatened (http://www.fastcompany.com/1768090/resistant-weeds-take-roots-and-threaten-food-supply). You see, like a fictional mad scientist’s creation turning deadly – we now have a very real non-fiction menace upon us.
The USDA is totally complicit in allowing the food industry do this – with very little testing or oversight. If you look behind the curtains you will discover a revolving door of personel between the USDA and the food industry. So who’s really looking out for the consumer’s best interest?
Thanks to Monsanto and the USDA we now have super-weeds and a food supply that’s tinged with RoundUp. Many countries in Europe don’t allow this. You have to wonder why the US government does.
